On Saturday night Melbourne United celebrated Pride Round against the Adelaide 36ers.
The club was thrilled to receive support from major partner Trojan Tools who provided complimentary tickets to the Melbourne Spectres to enjoy the game & even get on court during halftime.
This initiative, delivered by Trojan Tools and Melbourne United in collaboration with the Melbourne Spectres, is committed to promoting inclusive, respectful and safe basketball environments across the state, while also strengthening LGBTQIA+ visibility, allyship and participation.
Continuing to support United across various themed rounds has been a key component of their partnership in recent years, and Trojan Tools Brand & Sponsorship Manager, Genevieve Bolzon, spoke on the importance of these initiatives
“At Trojan, we’re proud to support initiatives that bring communities together and create more inclusive experiences for everyone.
"When Melbourne United shared the opportunity to support the Melbourne Spectres during Pride Round, it was an easy yes – it aligns with our commitment to backing programs that promote inclusivity, respect and belonging.
"Our long-standing partnership with Melbourne United enables us to continue supporting community initiatives that make a real impact.”
Melbourne United CEO, Nick Truelson, echoed Bolzon’s sentiments, reaffirming the club’s commitment to creating positive change on and off the court.
“Our purpose at Melbourne United is to use the power of basketball to inspire, entertain and enrich people’s lives, and we believe initiatives like this help us live that purpose,” Truelson said.
“It was amazing to see the celebration of community and inclusion on Saturday night, and we thank Trojan for helping bring that to life.”
The Melbourne Spectres were recently announced as an official community partner for the remainder of NBL26, and all of the NBL27 season. First founded in Sydney in 2001, Spectres Australia is Australia’s only fully dedicated Pride Basketball community, with teams based across the nation.
