Whoa Delly!
Matthew Dellavedova returned to the Melbourne United lineup after a two-game absence with a calf injury and delivered a pearler for his NBL Supercoach owners on Sunday against Cairns.
Delly came off the bench but picked up right where he left off when he dropped 21 points and 9 assists to go with 4-8 from deep in a performance that translated to 31 Supercoach points for lucky owners.
Despite the layoff and the sixth man role, the one-time Cleveland Cavaliers NBA champion still played 30 minutes and, while he's been impacted by injury this season, he's managed at least 31 points in each of his last three games, leading into a Sunday home match up with Brisbane in the familiar surrounds of John Cain Arena.
With a three-round average of 34.3 - good enough for 11th in NBL Supercoach - and a break even of just 4, at the very least Delly is virtually guaranteed to make money this week.
But his new emphasis on scoring, coupled with 5.4 assists per game - third in the entire NBL - Delly has the potential to be a Supercoach gold mine every time he steps on the floor.
Priced at a very attractive $277,000, if you're a Melbourne fan and want to bring in a United player this round, you can't go past the much-loved Maryborough boy.
