Versatile Clark providing unique skill set for United

The return of Ian Clark for the NBL25 season has media members around the NBL talking.

Fresh off a campaign which saw the American sharpshooter win the league’s Best Sixth Man award, Clark is looking to help his side climb to the top of the mountain next season.

The addition is one that former NBL Championship winning guard Peter Hooley believes could make a huge impact for MU.

Hooley, who was part of United’s 2017-18 championship winning team, believes Clark’s versatility as a player capable of producing as a starter or off he bench is something coveted across the globe.

“Not only is he (Clark) an unbelievable talent but he’s a great culture piece and that’s why everybody, especially at Melbourne wanted to try and bring him back,” he explained.

“You look around the league and you look around any professional league and there’s not too many legitimate spot-starters… Ian Clark is a spot starter where you can throw him in if there’s an injury or whatever, he can play the 35-40 minutes and be your main guy that night.

“They got the deal done and I think a lot of Melbourne United fans are excited, as they should be.”

In NBL24, Clark averaged an NBL career-high 13.6 points while knocking down 1.9 three-pointers per game at over 41%.
