Vickerman breaks down United’s trio of imports

There has been a buzz around Melbourne United across the past three days, as the club welcomed in a trio of new imports for the Hungry Jack’s 2022/23 NBL season.

Americans Rayjon Tucker and Jordan Caroline and Canadian Xavier Rathan-Mayes were all announced to be signing with the club over the past three days, and Head Coach Dean Vickerman couldn’t be happier.

Speaking on SEN this morning, Vickerman elaborated on how each of the trio can help propel United to another successful season.

 “We see (Jordan Caroline) as a problem and a mismatch for other teams.

“He’s got the versatility to play the five. The strength that he has…  There's a body there that certainly has a strength to it, but then he’s mobile enough to drop down and play some three as well and have a power advantage.”

Regarding highflying guard Rayjon Tucker, Vickerman touched on not only the athlete he is, but the level of competitiveness he brings.

“We’re really excited about the level of scorer, athlete and competitor that we’re getting. 

“We expect a lot at that position, and again the strength that he has he’s capable of guarding one-through-four.”

He finished speaking about XRM, who is someone who has been on Melbourne’s radar for years.

“(Xavier Rathan-Mayes) was someone that two or three years ago was put in front of us by our scout in the states.

“I think it was important to have a player who had been in our league… with X, we saw what he was capable of last year.”
