This will be the 29th edition of the Throwdown

When it comes to NBL rivalries, there’s nothing like the intensity of a Throwdown clash between Melbourne United and the South East Melbourne Phoenix.

Having combined for a collection of thrilling contests, all eyes will be on John Cain Arena come Thursday night when we face the cross-town rivals from 7:30pm.

Set to play in his first Throwdown, Finn Delany touched on his anticipation for the contest, and broke down what it was like to play his first home game as a member of Melbourne United.

“It’s obviously a cross-town rival,” Delany said.

“There’s a little bit extra in there for the fans of both teams. For us, Throwdowns already have so much history. It’s a game I’ll love to play in, so let’s get it.

“I always knew it was such a great fanbase. It’s really intense, we have really great fans. They give us such great support, there were so many families around, the kids were loving it, it’s really a great atmosphere.”

Head Coach Dean Vickerman echoed these sentiments.

“We’re really looking forward to this contest,” Vickerman explained.

“We want the (the arena) packed out, we want our crowd to really celebrate the things we do in the game, so I’m absolutely looking forward to the Throwdown.”

Tickets remain on sale, so get in now to secure your seat for what is sure to be a can’t miss event!
