What is The Grassroots Game? Everything you need to know

This Sunday, Melbourne United is set to celebrate our annual Grassroots Game when we take on the Cairns Taipans inside John Cain Arena from 4:30pm.

But what is The Grassroots Game?

Each season for the past few years, Melbourne United have dedicated a gameday to celebrate local and junior basketball across both Melbourne, and wider Victoria.

Clubs and associations are encouraged to attend and represent their team by showing their colours and wearing their local club uniforms.

During the game, there will be a ‘Grassroots Cam’, shining a spotlight on the different clubs in attendance inside the arena, as well as a pre-game high-five tunnel made up of junior players, a half-time game made up of grassroots players, and a post-game signing session featuring Melbourne United players for all those wearing their local club uniform.

With over 2,000 players and club officials from over 50 clubs and associations already booked to attend, Sunday’s game is set to be huge.

With amazing prizes up for grabs such as a Melbourne United Player Appearance* and signed memorabilia rewarding groups with 10 to 100+ people, there is still time to get your team together and join in the fun.
