Having come so close to winning a Championship in his first two seasons with United, returning forward Kyle Bowen says he is ‘starving’ for the opportunity to take home the Dr John Raschke Trophy.
Coming off a successful offseason playing in New Zealand, Bowen touched on what it would mean to him to break through and win the title after falling just short previously.
“It would mean everything at this point… I think everybody is starving for one right now,” he explained.
“You head into every season, no matter what happened the season before, with the same goal. I think it’s bitter sweet, but I think it gives us hope that we’re doing the right things and I think we’ve got to continue with the process.
“I don’t think we should get disheartened by coming so close, I think that’s a credit to the organisation top-to-bottom, from players to staff and the front office as well.”
A workhorse for United across NBL24 and NBL25, Bowen has played in every available game over the past two campaigns.
Entering his third season, the 24-year-old believes he is in the best position possible to help his side succeed.
“I’m familiar with the system now, I know what I need to be able to do to thrive within this system and Dean wants from his players, especially his four-men.
“This offseason has been about improving the shot, improving my ball-handling skills, so a lot of work… I’m really happy and really excited about NBL26.”
With so much anticipation ahead of the start of next season, the time is now to lock in your seat to see every second of action inside John Cain Arena.
