Melbourne United NBL1 Recap: Finals 2

Written by Melbourne United Media

A trio of United stars hit the court over the weekend to try and lock in their place in their conferences’ NBL1 Grand Final!

Malith Machar - Forestville

With just one win separating Malith Machar and his Forestville side from the NBL1 Central Grand Final, the development player gave his all to help propel the Eagles.

Machar finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks, however it was not enough, and Forestville was eliminated from the finals.

David Okwera - Sandringham

Needing a pair of perfect performances to get Sandringham into the NBL1 South Grand Final, despite missing three starters, the Sabres nearly did the impossible at the weekend.

It all started excellently on Friday night, when David Okwera helped Sandringham to a huge win at home over Frankston, but sadly ended on Sunday in Mt Gambier, where the Pioneers proved too much for the visitors.

Okwera averaged 11 points and 12.5 rebounds over the pair of contests.

David Barlow - Sandringham

Having helmed his Sandringham side as player/coach for the entire season, David Barlow wasn’t going to let his team go down without a fight.

Barlow averaged 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds over the two games, while knocking down six threes.
