Melbourne United’s NBL Blitz schedule revealed

With the Hungry Jack’s 2022/23 NBL season right around the corner, Melbourne United fans are ready to get their first real look of how their side is shaping up on the court when the team heads to Darwin for the Preseason Blitz.
United will play a trio of games in the tournament, facing off against Illawarra on 18 September, Perth on 21 September and finally Brisbane on 23 September.
Fans will be able to tune in to every game for free via Kayo Freebies to get a look at how United’s new additions like Rayjon Tucker, Xavier Rathen-Mayes, Issac Humphries and Makuach Maluach are settling into their new uniforms.
Each team will be playing for the Loggins-Bruton Cup, while the tournament’s most outstanding player will take home the Ray Borner Medal.
Competition Rules
- Games are worth a maximum of 7 points
- 3 points are awarded to the winning team
- 1 point is awarded to the side that wins each quarter
- In the event a quarter is tied, both teams receive half a point
- If a game goes into overtime, no additional points are awarded
NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger touched on his excitement ahead of the event.
“We’ve made a few changes at League level, and we have seen so many exciting roster changes amongst our NBL Clubs, and all of them will be on show for the first time at this year’s Blitz,” he said.
“We thank the Government of the Northern Territory and Northern Territory Major Events Company for their support of the Blitz.
“We’re looking forward to an action-packed pre-season and I’m sure all our players, coaches and staff are looking forward to an amazing experience in Darwin.
“This is a huge win for the Territory, one that means Territorians will be able to watch some of the best basketballers in the country, live and right here in Darwin.”
Tickets for the NBL Blitz will go on sale on Friday, August 19. More details will be announced soon.
