The possibility of a Melbourne United showdown in the NBL1 South Final remains alive after a pair of positive results at the weekend for our stars.
Tom Wilson and the Melbourne Tigers produced an unthinkable comeback on the road to punch their ticket to the Preliminary Final.
Trailing for the entire contest, Wilson helped his side fight back late, erasing a double-digit deficit with less than four minutes remaining.
The United guard accounted for six of Melbourne’s final 13 points, while also dishing the game-winning assist and grabbing the game-sealing rebound.
The Tigers will now face United Training Player, Henry Sewell, and the Knox Raiders on Saturday evening from 7:30pm for a spot in the Grand Final.
On the other side of the bracket, the Sandringham Sabres cruised to an 18-point victory, despite missing Dash Daniels, who is with the Australian Boomers Asia Cup Squad.
Malith Machar led from the front, tallying 27 points, while Fabijan Krslovic came off the bench to pull down 20 rebounds. Tom Koppens also contributed 14 points.
The Sabres will head on the road to face off against the Mt Gambier Pioneers on Saturday evening from 7:30pm.
