Vickerman confident adversity will lead to improvement

Despite suffering two losses across our Round 12 games, Head Coach Dean Vickerman remains confident the team is headed in the right direction.
A horrid shooting performance (1/28 three-point attempts) limited our scoring output on Sunday afternoon, however grit and determination on the interior kept us in a winning position down the stretch.
Speaking after the game, Vickerman said he isn’t concerned moving forward and believes this adversity will only help his group improve for the back-end of the season.
“I was concerned after the Perth and South East games. I thought we lacked an intensity to really compete at this level and for whatever reason, we've found that again,” Vickerman explained.
“We haven't got the total synergy back with the group, but we're making winning efforts… I felt really positive about the last two games coaching them because I know the things that we're doing are going to be sustainable for the end of the year.
“We've been through patches like this before and what you come out the other side (with) makes you a way better team.
“We've had our hiccup right now and we've just got to get over the line.”
These sentiments were echoed by Fabijan Krslovic, who had his best game for United, filling the stat-sheet with 16 points, 12 rebounds, three steals, three blocks and two assists.
The bruising big-man said while the loss was frustrating, he and his teammates can see a way forward.
“It's frustrating, we did a lot of really good things today (Sunday),” Krslovic said.
“1/28 (three-pointers) is tough, you wouldn't have guessed we'd be in that situation shooting like that, but we still gave ourselves every opportunity to win the game.
“We’ll look at it and what can we do better, how can we put ourselves in better situations, but yeah, feeling frustrated.
“These last two games are a lot better than the previous two. I think there are a lot of good things that we can fall back on and take into the next game, because in this league game just comes so quickly, you can't really get too caught up in what's going on, so we just need to do whatever we can to best prepare and look forward to Thursday.”
We will get the opportunity to bounce back quickly when we take the court on Thursday evening inside John Cain Arena for a matchup with the Illawarra Hawks from 7:30pm.
