Waardenburg ready to ‘cherish’ the big-game atmosphere

One fresh face that can’t wait to take to the floor next season is Sam Waardenburg, who is eagerly anticipating his debut inside John Cain Arena wearing United colours.

Speaking to Melbourne United Media, Waardenburg touched on the ‘contagious’ energy produced by the Members and supporters inside of JCA.

“I've enjoyed my last four years coming and playing on that court,” he explained. 

“The energy can be crazy, even if you're on the opposing team, it’s sometimes very contagious. I can't wait to get out in front of the fans and feel that energy again.

“I got to play on some pretty big arenas in courts and in college being in the ACC and always loved and cherished those moments. 

“Those are things that you remember throughout your basketball career. I just can't wait to kind of get back into that feeling and see the 10,000-plus people going crazy in the stands, hopefully for a lot of wins.”

The star Kiwi is set to touch down in Melbourne in the coming weeks, where he will start to work with his new teammates and coaches.
