Goulding, White, Boomers advance to Second Round

In a clash of NBL21 championship teammates, Australia have overcome Japan to secure their place in the Second Round of the FIBA World Cup.

In what was a high-scoring affair, the Boomers registered their greatest-ever total score in the 109-89 victory.

Chris Goulding and Jack White took to the court in the final minutes of the victory, with the latter finishing a putback layup to get himself on the scoresheet, while former United teammate Yudai Baba registered five points, three assists and a steal in his 18 minutes for Japan.

The win means the Boomers will almost certainly face Slovenia in their next game on Friday 1 September.

This will be a rematch of the 2020 Olympics Bronze Medal matchup, which Australia won 107-93.

On the other side of the tournament, New Zealand will face Greece tonight from 10:40pm for a spot in the Second Round.
