Goulding reflects on ‘rollercoaster’ NBL26

While it may not have been the hottest scoring season of his stellar NBL career, Chris Goulding’s NBL26 campaign was still full of amazing moments.

Coming off an injury interrupted off-season, Goulding lit up the score sheet upon his return to the lineup, tallying 61 points across 56 minutes in his first three games.

While sickness and injuries hampered the second half of his NBL26, the sharpshooter continued to make history, becoming the 15th player to ever reach 500 games played in the league.

Looking back, Goulding says the season was full of highs and lows, both for himself and for the team at large.

“I think (the season was) a bit of a rollercoaster, both as a team and personally for me,” he explained.

“The good was really good, the bad was hard to watch at times, but I take solace in the fact that the group of guys we had together never wavered internally.

“There was never anything untoward or anything going on other than a really good group of guys committed to trying to get better and to right the ship and win basketball games.

“We showed, when we were playing well, we were really tough to beat, we just didn't pull that out enough.”

With NBL27 ahead of him, Goulding broke down his singular goal of returning to his best ahead of his 20th NBL season.

“My focus is solely to get healthy and put myself in a position to be the player I know I can be.

“I think at times I wasn't up to the level that I wanted this year, so a massive focus over the next however many months is getting back to that person, getting healthy and being me.”
