Dime-dropping Ili helps NZ outlast Jordan

New Zealand have kept their hopes of progressing out of the group stage of the FIBA World Cup alive following a hard-fought overtime victory against Jordan.

Melbourne United star Shea Ili was a standout for the Tall Blacks, finishing with 15 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of steals.

Fellow MU guard Flynn Cameron played six minutes in the contest, scoring three points and dishing out two assists.

The win means New Zealand’s clash with Greece on Wednesday evening will determine which of the two teams will advance out of Group C alongside the USA.

The win came after South Sudan registered its first ever World Cup victory, defeating China by 20 points.

The next opportunity to watch past and present United stars take to the court will come tonight as Chris Goulding and Jack White face NBL21 championship winning teammate Yudai Baba and Japan tonight from 9:10pm.
