Following back-to-back seasons falling just short of a Championship, Chris Goulding remains undeterred is his pursuit to bring another title to Melbourne United.
With the roster having undergone a major re-work over the offseason, Goulding broke down some of the changes the team has undergone on The Extra Pass podcast.
“I think it’s always challenging, the offseason, even when you get so close to winning. You have to do some soul searching as to where we can get better,” he explained.
“Big turnover within the team is always tricky, especially when you’ve had some relative success with some guys. You have to trust the front office, the coaches with all their research and background checks in who we’re getting in and from what I’ve seen from afar, we’ve got guys who want to compete, want to win and play the right way.
“Often times that’s one of the hardest things, to get the right people in and then you can sort of mould your team from there.
“All these reps that we’re going to get over August and the start of September are going to be really helpful and build us to hopefully be back competing for another Championship.”
The final piece of United’s main roster was finalised yesterday with the addition of seven-foot big-man Jesse Edwards, who joins a new-look import trio featuring Tyson Walker and Milton Doyle.
