Oduro ready to hit the ground running

With his arrival in Melbourne fast approaching, import big-man Josh Oduro can’t wait to join his new teammates on the court ahead of the Hungry Jack’s NBL27 season.

Currently putting in the work back in Washington, DC, the 206cm American said he’s been watching United’s socials closely to see what the team has been doing on the court, and is excited to touch down and start learning from the rest of the lineup.

“Man, I can’t wait,” he said.

“We’re (the team is) full of a lot of young guys for energy, but we’ve also got a lot of vets.

“I’ve been watching the clips of the team practicing and I feel like it’s missing out a little bit, so I just can’t wait to get down there and get to know the guys and get things started.

“I feel like I had a master's degree in basketball in college, but taking that next step, playing professionally, playing in the G League, playing in the NBA, I really learned a lot, and, you know, I think the number one thing is just habits of a pro.

“Those guys have tremendous work ethic. We’ve got Joe Ingles; someone who's been a longtime pro, I’d love to pick his brain.

“We’ve got Cole Anthony, a recent signing, he's someone who's done it at a very high level for quite some time.

“And then we’ve also got some young guys and some vets in the NBL on our team, so, you know, I feel like it, the growth doesn't stop now, and I'm a really big person when it comes to just continuing to develop yourself and so I'm gonna be excited to pick everyone's brain and pick up new things.

“Right now, the task at hand is winning a championship… I'm really excited for this opportunity”

Oduro and the rest of United’s fans will get their first look at how the lineup is set to fare on the court together this Sunday when Melbourne takes on B.LEAGUE UNITED from 2pm.

The game will be streamed live via the Melbourne United YouTube.
