Finn Delany and Shea Ili are set to reunite in the NBL this season

There are few closer connections you can form with a teammate than battling for your country alongside them.

For the better part of the past decade, that is what Shea Ili and newly-signed United star Finn Delany have done, suiting up for the New Zealand Tall Blacks across a number of tournaments.

The pair initially spent four years together in the NBL with the New Zealand Breakers, starting as Development Players before evolving into stars in their own right.

Now, after two FIBA World Cup appearances, the duo are set to reunite with Melbourne United in hopes of delivering the club another successful season.

Speaking to Melbourne United Media, Delany broke down his excitement to join forces with Ili on an NBL court once again.

“I’m incredibly excited to be playing with Shea,” he said.

“He’s the type of player that everyone would die to play alongside with the way he goes about things.

“We were Development Players together so I know the incredible body of work he’s put in across his career to get to the point that he’s at.

“We’ve had some really cool experiences together around the world with the national team, so I can’t wait to get the opportunity to be back with him for a whole NBL season.”

The pair most recently shared the court during the Trans Tasman Throwdown series against the Australian Boomers.

The only way to make sure you’re there to see every second of Delany and Ili’s chemistry next season is by becoming a Melbourne United Member. NBL26 Memberships are coming soon! Register your interest via our waitlist today!
