Hear from new import signing Cole Anthony for the first time since signing with Melbourne United

Cole Anthony has made his intentions clear ahead of his arrival in Melbourne to join his United teammates.

Speaking to Melbourne United Media, Anthony said he and his teammates aren’t “messing around this year,” and that their sights are set on the NBL’s ultimate prize.

“To all the fans out there, we ain’t messing around this year. We’re here to win a Championship, and we're going to have some fun while we do it,” Anthony said.

“Whenever I step on the basketball court, I’m trying to help my team win in any way I can.

“I’ve seen how this team has come close the past few years and didn’t win a championship, and I’m here to help get them over the hump.

“I think we’ve got the right group of guys, I think we’ve got the right coach, I think it’s the right organisation. Shoot, I can’t wait to get down to Melbourne. It’s time for everybody to start gelling together, it’s time to start getting ready for that regular season.

“I really do think that we’ve got a great group and I’m excited.”

Set to touch down in Melbourne next week, the 367-game NBA guard touched on how he thinks his skillset is set to complement the collection of stars surrounding him throughout the rest of the roster.

“I think with as versatile as the team we’ve got is, I can slot myself in there, I can play off the ball, I can play on the ball, I think that we have a bunch of capable guys, we’ve got shooters, we’ve got dudes who can create plays and I think when you put us all together… I think we’ve got a great group of guys that are going to play a selfless style of basketball.

“Melbourne United was the best fit for me and my play style. It felt like me inserting myself into the team was the best chance for me to play some winning basketball and be around some good guys.”
