There are few environments in Australian sport that can replicate the energy inside of John Cain Arena ahead of the opening tip of a Melbourne United home game.
With the entire crowd on their feet for the Harcourts Holler, the noise and excitement is always threatening to blow the roof off.
Having experienced this from the sideline last season, Melbourne born and raised guard Tom Wilson said he can’t wait to feel the roar of the United faithful on the floor in NBL26.
“I was at a few games last year and it’s just awesome to experience everyone standing up at the start of the game. You just think ‘I just want to be out there” he said.
“I think it’s a massive part of basketball. It’s a huge advantage when you’ve got an amazing home crowd.
“It creates that environment that’s special to play in front of and it’s not an opportunity that everyone gets and sometimes you may lose sight of how lucky you are to do that.
“I guess for me I’ll just try not to think about it too much and just soak it in.”
Wilson has impressed across the preseason so far, injecting energy into the contest off the bench.
With so much anticipation ahead of the start of next season, the time is now to lock in your seat to see every second of action inside John Cain Arena.
