Machar excited to continue learning from United’s Champions

Returning Development Player Malith Machar learnt a lot in his first year with Melbourne United.

In what was his first taste of professional basketball, Machar may have seldom seen the court appearing in just six games, but worked tirelessly in practices, pushing his teammates to achieve their best.

Throughout this, the South Sudanese wing did all he could to take in as much information from his teammates as possible, and is excited to continue that across NBL24 with United’s collection of new and returning players.

“The guys we’ve brought in, they’re Champions,” he said.

“Jo (Lual-Acuil Jr) and Luke Travers have won NBL Championships, Delly (Matthew Dellavedova) has won an NBA title. These are guys that know what it takes to win at the highest level and I want to learn from them.

“I was lucky enough to be around it last year with guys like CG (Chris Goulding), Shea (Ili), Dave Barlow and Brad Newley. All of those guys have played around the world and have had a lot of success.

“There isn’t a better place for me to get better in this league than in Melbourne.”
