Machar ready to play with pace

With the start of NBL26 a little over a week away, Malith Machar believes our lineup is perfectly put together to play with pace.

Someone who thrives in the open court, Machar talked about his excitement at how the roster has been built and his fit within it.

“It’s exciting because it’s very different from last year… It’s a different style of play than we’ve previously had,” he said.

“I like it, I’ve been playing fast my whole life so having guys like Shil (Shea Ili) who can get the ball and run with me running the wings, I’m excited for that. I reckon we can be one of the fastest teams in the league.”

Across his two seasons as a Development Player, Machar only played nine games. 

Now, coming off the back of a full season as a Training Player and another strong NBL1 campaign, the man his teammates call ‘Ticket’ says he is ready to contribute to winning basketball.

“(My mindset is) be ready, stay ready. Your name can be called at any time,” he explained.

“As a Development Player I would say I was in my own head a bit… Now I’m just confident.”
