United stars finish World Cup strong

Melbourne United’s quintet of players taking the court at the FIBA World Cup have all ended their campaigns with a victory to close the Second Round.

Chris Goulding and Jack White both hit the scoreboard in the Boomers final game, a 16-point victory over Georgia. The NBL Championship winning teammates registered two points each. Overall, Australia placed 10th.

The night prior, NBL24 running mates Shea Ili and Flynn Cameron edged out a win over Egypt to finish the tournament in 22nd place.

Ili dished out another five assists in the victory, leaving him in third place for assists per game across the World Cup.

Finally Yudai Baba and Japan overcame Cape Verde to secure their place in the 2024 Paris Olympics as the highest finishing Asian nation.

Goulding, Ili and Cameron will now shift their attention to the remainder of United’s NBL24 preseason ahead of the club’s blockbuster Round 1 Throwdown clash with the South East Melbourne Phoenix on September 28.

As excitement builds towards the start of United’s NBL24 campaign, the time is now to lock in your seat for each and every game at John Cain Arena!
