United stars lift Boomers, Ili falls to Slovenia

The Australian Boomers have cruised to another victory following huge performances from Jock Landale, Chris Goulding and Matthew Dellavedova.

After a slow first half where Australia only managed 38 points, Goulding and Dellavedova brought the Boomers offence to life once they entered the contest.

Much like he had on Tuesday night, Goulding proved why his shooting is such a commodity for the team, splashing four of his five three point attempts in six minutes of action in the third quarter.

This shooting display left United’s captain as the game’s leading scorer heading into the fourth period.

Once the final term began, inside the building where he helped Melbourne capture a championship, it was former Grand Final MVP Jock Landale who took over.

Landale scored 10 of his game-high 19 points in the quarter, ultimately leading to a 91-58 victory for the Boomers.

Jack White did not suit up for the contest.

On the other side of the world, Shea Ili’s dominant showing wasn’t enough for New Zealand to keep their Olympic dream alive, as the Tall Blacks fell to Luka Doncic and Slovenia by 26 points.

Ili was by far New Zealand’s best player, scoring 28 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Flynn Cameron added eight points and two rebounds.

The loss eliminates the Tall Blacks from their Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
