Ingles previews Round 1 clash against 36ers

John Cain Arena holds a special place in the heart of Joe Ingles.

Before he would go on to enjoy tremendous success across the NBA and Europe, the star forward was putting together some spectacular performances in front of sold out crowds inside JCA.

This includes his last NBL game, which saw him claim the NBL Championship while playing with the South Dragons.

Speaking to Melbourne United Media, Ingles touched on his feelings at returning to John Cain Arena to face off against the Adelaide 36ers for his first game on 19 September.

“The last time I played an NBL game in that arena, I was holding up a trophy and cutting down the net, so I’ve had some pretty special moments in that arena,” he explained.

“I've been able to play for the Boomers in the years since which has been pretty cool, but now getting to officially be back in the league and starting my United tenure against Adelaide of all teams on September 19, it’s going to be really cool.

“They’re obviously a team that is built pretty well and built to win a championship. We have the same goal, so it’s hell of a way to get started.”

United and Adelaide have faced off 23 times inside of John Cain Arena, with Melbourne taking home the victory in 19 of the meetings.
