Melbourne United are thrilled to announce the signing of Australian wing Tanner Krebs for the NBL24 season and beyond on a three-year contract, with a player option for the third season.

Krebs, 27, is coming off his most productive 12 months of basketball, making 16 appearances with the Brisbane Bullets last season, 15 of which came in the starting lineup.

A former teammate of Jock Landale at St Mary’s, Krebs showcased his talent over the second half of the season, averaging 11.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per night in his final seven games.

This came after his dominant run through the NBL1 North, where he secured a Conference Championship with the Gold Coast Rollers, putting up 23.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

Speaking to MU Media, Krebs said he can’t wait to get down to Melbourne and help contribute to what he hopes can be a Championship campaign.

“I’m super excited, it’s a great club with a really rich history,” he said.

“It’s a big city and a big market, so I can’t wait to experience playing at John Cain Arena in front of our fans.

“I could tell from the start of Free Agency that United really wanted me, so that combined with their ability to develop young players was really appealing.

“I’m ready to take the next step in my career, I showed signs of that last season before I got hurt, so I’m really looking forward to putting in the work to put myself in a position to help the club be successful.”

Standing nearly 200cm, Krebs provides great versatility with his shooting, passing and defensive ability.

Head Coach Dean Vickerman said he’s excited to watch the two-way star combine with the rest of United’s talent across NBL24.

“Tanner is a guy coming into his physical prime who has only gotten better and stronger during his time in the league,” Vickerman said.

“We like the shooting he brings. His shot is probably the first thing you think of when you think of Tanner Krebs. We envision him being a real stretch option, shooting off turn-outs and on the move.

“I think there’s a bit of a dog in him, he wants those tough assignments and wants to lock people up defensively, so we feel he’s a really good two-way player that brings us great versatility.”

Krebs joins Chris Goulding, Shea Ili, Ariel Hukporti, Zac Triplett and Josh Duach as players signed for United’s NBL24 campaign so far.

As United continues to assemble an exciting roster of local and international talent, make sure you lock in your seat to every home game at John Cain Arena next season.
