Melbourne United trio Campbell Blogg, David Barlow and Rhys Carter enjoyed a thrilling finish over the weekend as Sandringham picked up a buzzer-beating win over Diamond Valley in the NBL1 South.
Blogg led all scorers, dropping 28 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists as the Sabres secured their fourth straight W, solidifying their place in the top four of the Southern Conference.
Stepping into the starting lineup in place of Ben Ayre, David Barlow played a solid role in the victory, adding nine points and five assists.
Despite the result, Sandringham weren’t able to displace Cal Dalton and Eltham on top of the ladder, who split their pair of games in Tasmania.
The big-man was solid in both contests, averaging 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and three assists.
The Wildcats dropping one of their games allowed Brad Newley’s Frankston Blues to draw ever-closer to re-taking top-spot following their narrow win over Zac Triplett and Keilor.
Newley’s 16 points and seven rebounds helped buoy the Blues, while Triplett did a bit of everything for the Thunder, finishing with 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
The young shooter enjoyed greater success the next evening, picking up a win over Waverley. Triplett scored 17 points.
Moving to the Central Conference, Malith Machar was dominant in Forestville’s win over the Southern Tigers.
Machar filled the stat sheet, ending the game with 20 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals. The win also lifted the Eagles back into first place in the conference.
Internationally, Jo Lual-Acuil Jr has continued his quest to help Dynamo Lebanon win its first ever league title.
JLA has his work cut out for him, with his side trailing El Riyadi 3-1 in the best-of-seven championship series.
