Following a successful year with the club as a training player, Melbourne United is excited to announce it has signed Campbell Blogg as a Development Player of the NBL24 season.
Blogg, 19, was slated to play basketball in America last year before impressing United’s coaching staff so much during his time with the Sandringham Sabres NBL1 program that he was brought in as a training player for NBL23.
After showcasing his professionalism and dedication to growing into a star within the league, United made the decision to add Blogg as a DP for the upcoming season.
Speaking to MU Media, the young guard couldn’t hide his joy.
“I’m on top of the world, it’s the best feeling ever,” he said.
“Six months ago I was committed to a junior college in America, but when the opportunity to stay in Melbourne and be with United as a training player came up, I couldn’t turn it down.
“I think that was the best decision I’ve ever made. I learnt so much during last season, it was invaluable for my development.
”I can’t wait to step onto the court and feel the energy from the United fans.”
Standing 194cm with a deadly outside jumpshot and knack for finding teammates in the right spot, Blogg’s skill has been recognised at the Youth League, where he won MVP in 2022, and NBL1 level, with the youngster named captain of the Sandringham Sabres men's team.
Having seen his growth throughout his time with the Sabres and United, David Barlow spoke highly of the local product.
“He’s a natural leader… His understanding of how to be a professional, how to operate in a team environment is a massive advantage,” Barlow said.
“He’s an intelligent kid who has bought into our program. He’s naturally an incredibly skillful player.
A really natural shooter and scorer as well as being a strong ball-handler and playmaker.
“I’m incredibly excited to see him get this opportunity and proud of the work he’s put in to get here.”
Blogg joins Jo Lual-Acuil Jr, Chris Goulding, Shea Ili, Tanner Krebs, Flynn Cameron, Zac Triplett and Josh Duach as players rostered for next season.
