For many young Victorian hoopers, Melbourne United exists as the ultimate goal in terms of playing in the NBL.
This rings true for Dash Daniels, who has grown up watching United games and dreaming of suiting up for the team inside of John Cain Arena.
Daniels, who signed with Melbourne United as a Next Star during 2025, is now set to make that dream a reality once NBL26 begins.
Speaking on The Extra Pass Podcast, Daniels talked about his excitement to hit the court with United.
“Ever since I was 11 or 12 years old, I’ve been coming up to Melbourne to watch Melbourne United games,” he said.
“It’s always been something I’ve dreamt of just to be a part of Melbourne United and play in the NBL. The past five months with this team have been super beneficial to me, just being able to have that early start that not many people get to have, being super comfortable with the team before I even get started.
“Everyone’s been super helpful. Obviously all the vets: CG (Chris Goulding), Shea Ili… just having those guys to talk to and learn off has been a great experience.
“I’m just ready to go out there and play.”
Before making his United debut, Daniels is set to don the Green and Gold at the senior level after being selected to the FIBA Asia Cup team.
Australia’s 2025 Asia Cup Campaign will kick off on Wednesday 6 August from 6pm with a matchup against Korea.
