Winning the only priority for Doyle

Ahead of his arrival in Melbourne, Milton Doyle has a singular focus: Winning.

Across his three seasons in the NBL, Doyle has amassed 52 victories, which ranks fifth most over that stretch, narrowly trailing teammates Chris Goulding (61 wins - 1st) and Shea Ili (54 wins - 3rd).

With NBL26 fast approaching, Doyle says he is confident the group Dean Vickerman has put together is capable of producing strong results right away.

“You look at the lineup, with a big man still to be added in, it’s all guys who have won and produced in big moments in the NBL and overseas,” he explained.

“I think when we all get in the gym together, it’s going to be something great.

“Having so much winning experience on this team gives me a lot of confidence, knowing that I’m going to be competing alongside guys who have won already.

“I think once we gel and get everything going together, it’ll make things easier for everyone on the team.”

Despite his ability to knock down shots in the biggest moments, or fill up the stat-sheet on a nightly basis, the Chicago-born scorer knows that it takes trust in everyone on the roster to win at the highest level.

“You play to win, you play to compete for championships. It’s the most important part about playing the game. 

“Whether that means sacrificing or taking over in big moments, you have to be able to read those moments and adapt to the game so you’re able to do whatever it takes to win the game.

“When you look at great teams in any sport, it starts in practice. From the preseason onwards, it takes everyone pushing each other towards a shared goal of being better every day.”
