United prepared to ‘fight hard’ in do-or-die game

Two days out from our biggest game of the season, the message is clear: Be prepared for a fight on Thursday night.

Physical battles against the JackJumpers are nothing new, and looking ahead to the do-or-die Play-In Qualifier, Head Coach Dean Vickerman said he is readying the group for whatever the visitors can throw their way.

“The JackJumpers have always been tricky to prepare for but they always play a physical brand of basketball whoever is on the floor,” Vickerman said.

“I guess our focus has really been on you know how we can put together the best style of basketball that can compete against anyone in this playoff series.

“There's a focus on them to say ‘Hey, they're still got high level players that can really shoot the basketball’ but the focus has totally been on us about how the basketball that we want to play.”

Having played one of his best games of the season against the JackJumpers back in Round 17, Jesse Edwards is sure to enter Thursday’s matchup full of confidence.

With the regular season over, the seven-footer explained how the fresh-slate mindset provided by the Playoffs will keep him and his teammates hungry.

“The whole point of the postseason is like it's a new season. You start off with a fresh slate,” Edwards explained.

“The way we look at teams right now can be extremely different from the way that we'll look at them in three to four weeks. 

“This is the most important time of the year… At the end of the day, you know, being in the position where we're in, we're going to have to fight hard, and we know that. We're ready for whatever will happen.”
