‘Amazing’ Goulding praised for efforts abroad

For NBL fans the name ‘Chris Goulding’ is one immediately associated with elite performance, with the guard having already carved out a historic career within the league.

For fans in France however, Goulding’s exploits were relatively unknown by most, meaning when he joined forces with Australian Boomers assistant coach Will Weaver’s Paris team, some didn’t know what to expect.

That, as many down under anticipated, quickly changed.

CG43 put together a super 11 games for Paris, averaging close to 11 points per game in 20 minutes, while shooting the ball at over 40% from deep.

His efforts helped propel Paris to a 7-4 record across his time, with the team just narrowly missing the playoffs after flirting with league relegation prior to his arrival.

Weaver, now part of the Brooklyn Nets coaching staff, praised Goulding when speaking at NBA Summer League.

“Chris was amazing,” he said.

“Not surprising to me but I think he certainly turned heads in turns of what he was able to do coming after a big season in the NBL and then immediately making a big impact for our team. He gave us a lot of great energy.

“Chris is obviously one of the most consistent players in the world, it was a lot more fun to have him on my team than to play against him in the NBL.”
