Goulding ahead of Saturday: ‘We’ve got to keep winning’

With just three games remaining this regular season for Melbourne United, Chris Goulding says the game plan will remain the same as it has since the start of 2023; just keep winning.

Speaking ahead of United’s crucial matchup against the Adelaide 36ers on Saturday evening, Goulding said his only focus heading int the game is collecting a fifth consecutive victory.

“Regardless of who we’re playing, it's an important match for us, we’ve got to keep winning,” he said.

“Of course it’s an important game, we’ve done well to claw our way back around that .500 mark. We just want to keep winning.

“We understand the situation that we got ourselves in earlier, we understand the situation we’re in now, in some ways they’re the same.

“You just need to win, you need to win games no matter where they are and that’s been our mindset; don’t get too caught up in what’s happened, just worry about what we can do to try and get a win.”

Securing a victory at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre will be a tall task, especially with the crowd support the 36ers have received of late, setting stadium records for attendance in each of their last three home games.

Having won three of his past four trips to Adelaide by an average margin of 21.7 points, Dean Vickerman is ready for another hard-fought battle.

“We’re looking forward to going into an environment that’s going to feel like a finals game,” Vickerman said.

“It’s a couple of teams that are really fighting for position so we expect nothing less than a magnificent contest.

“The boys have trained well this week and have got a really good edge about them going into this game.”
