LISTEN: Goulding surrounded by ‘a lot of talent’ ahead of NBL Blitz

Knowing what it takes to compete for a Championship, Chris Goulding is well aware of how important a strong preseason is to gather momentum ahead of Round 1.

Slated to take to the court on Saturday when we host Cairns inside Casey Stadium, Goulding, a three-time NBL Champion, will be working alongside his new teammates with the aim of building chemistry.

Speaking to Dwayne Russell on SEN, the 507-game sharpshooter touched on the makeup of the new group, and how crucial these hit-outs can be in the long run.

“There’s a lot of talent (on the team), there’s some big names,” he said.

“I think we’re going to be a little less transitional in the way that we line up. We’ve got a lot of guys that can switch and play different positions, so that’ll be a little bit of a rollercoaster in terms of how we figure out how to play together, but that’s why these preseason games, like the one we have coming up on Saturday night, are so important.

“We can start to build some chemistry and figure out who likes to do what but I’m sure we’ll be ready to roll come September 19.”

One new star set to suit up for the first time in United colours this weekend is Cole Anthony, with the dynamic guard thriving in scrimmages leading up to the contest.

Getting to play alongside the 367-game NBA veteran, Goulding joked that he may finally see a little less attention from opposing defences this season.

“The best defender is going to him every time, so I might be off the hook,” he laughed.
