After nearly a month and a half away, we are finally set to return to our home court at John Cain Arena this Saturday when we face off against the Adelaide 36ers from 8pm in our Pride Game.
It’s something that our coaches and playing group have been eagerly awaiting across the start of 2026, and with history on our side, the hope is that we can pick up a big win over the 36ers.
We have won ten of the past 11 games against the 36ers inside John Cain Arena, including a thrilling one-point victory in Round 6.
Head Coach Dean Vickerman touched on his excitement for the game, and the special feeling behind it given the fact it comes against Isaac Humphries.
“Having Isaac as part of our Pride Game is special to the club,” Vickerman explained.
“Being a part of his coming out was a special moment, so it’s always good to acknowledge that and celebrate that one with Pride Round.
“Just getting back home and having a packed house… The Bendigo games were nice as home games, but it's not quite JCA and the fans that we can get. So hopefully they can help us build some momentum into the finals.”
Star forward Finn Delany echoed these sentiments, adding that despite our recent loss to New Zealand, he is pleased with the direction the team is heading.
“Very excited to get back to John Cain Arena in front of our home crowd in a great round… I think we’ve got 200 tickets left. So it's really exciting. It's going to be a packed house.
“I think we had a disappointing showing in New Zealand, but we're continuing to get better and that's like a great sign at this time of the year and the season leading into this final stretch.
“We played some great basketball in January. We've been away from home and looking forward to getting back to John Cain and I'm really happy with some of the improvements we've made this month.”
