Goulding showcases unselfishness in milestone victory

Playing his 250th game for Melbourne United, Chris Goulding put together another spectacular performance on Sunday as United cruised to their 10th consecutive victory over the Brisbane Bullets.
After a competitive opening term, Goulding did his part to break the game wide open in the second period, hitting five three-pointers across a three minute stretch as Melbourne went on a 19-6 run.
Despite going off in the quarter, United’s captain only attempted one shot for the entire second half, instead using the threat of his jumpshot to take the Bullets out of their system and open up opportunities for his teammates.
Speaking after the game, assistant coach and former teammate David Barlow said Goulding’s unselfishness is a big part of what makes him so special.

“That was a brilliant display from CG,” Barlow said.
“He got cooking there in the second, it was really fun to watch and obviously helped us out and broke the game open a little bit.
“His gravity is a huge asset for us… he just kind of attracted so much of their attention, other guys got open and easy baskets appeared and he did a great job of finding guys and kept the scoreboard ticking over whether it was him putting the ball in the hole or others.
“That’s one of our trademarks, being unselfish and prioritising winning behaviours over self and he definitely epitomises that for sure.”
United will be hoping Goulding can produce another pair of performances similar to that across Round 11, as Melbourne take on the SEM in Throwdown XXIII on Thursday evening before hosting the Adelaide 36ers on Saturday night.
