Offseason Games Wrap: Wilson overcomes Bowen in teammate battle

Tom Wilson and the Melbourne Tigers picked up an important win to start the weekend of NBL1 action across the country, taking down Kyle Bowen and the Sandringham Sabres.

Missing Malith Machar due to injury, Bowen did his best to step up in the scoring department, tallying 17 points to go along with his nine rebounds, however the Tigers were able to come away with the 15-point win, thanks in part to Wilson’s 19 points.

Bowen and his Sabres also fell in their second game of the round despite his 17-point, 12-rebound double-double.

Tanner Krebs helped Casey to their first win of the new season, scoring 12 points and pulling down nine rebounds as he took down his former side Ringwood at home.

In the NBL1 East, Fabijan Krslovic put together an elite defensive performance to keep Norths Bears unbeaten, swatting four shots and coming away with two steals, while adding 10 points, six rebounds and two assists in a 83-73 win over Sutherland.

Internationally, both Milton Doyle and Jesse Edwards fell short of victories. On Saturday, Edwards and Baskonia went down by 12 to Joventut in the Spanish ACB, while on Sunday Doyle’s Napoli side was soundly defeated by Milano.
