The athletic guard is set to touch down in Australia soon to begin his NBL26 preparations with United

When presented with the opportunity to sign on with Melbourne United for the NBL26 season, the move made perfect sense for American guard, Tyson Walker.

Coming off a successful professional season in the NBA G League, the move down under provided the former Michigan State Spartan with an opportunity to grow his game while competing under the bright lights.

Speaking on the NBL Now Podcast, Walker touched on the conversations he had with people close to him surrounding the move, as well as what made Melbourne such an appealing destination.

“When it came up, I just talked to people about it and I kind of got excited about it,” he said.

“Everybody had good reviews and everybody pushed for that to be the place, so I was excited for it.

“Just the style of play is appealing. Every game seems like a big game, good crowds, people care about the sport, so I just wanted to be a part of that.”

Walker comes into a lineup full of experienced NBL stars, such as returning club legends Chris Goulding and Shea Ili, and new faces in Melbourne, Finn Delany and Milton Doyle.

Looking at his teammates, the 24-year-old can’t wait to learn from, and compete alongside them.

“I just know that they’re really good guys. They’re really good, talented, and they’re older, so I can definitely learn a lot from them and just be even more of a professional.

“I’m a competitor, someone that’s just trying to win, so whatever that comes with, that’s what I’ll do.”
