Walker’s ‘relentless’ work propelling him into NBL26

Through our two preseason games, import guard Tyson Walker has showcased his comfort playing at the NBL level.

Playing for the first time outside of America, Walker has averaged 19.5 points, 2.5 steals and 2.5 assists while shooting the ball at close to 70% from behind the arc.

Speaking ahead of the games, Walker touched on his first impressions of his new team and how his work on the practice floor has paid off.

“You get better in practice. Practice is supposed to be harder than the games sometimes,” he explained.

“(We’re about) competing hard, being physical and then just being relentless with our work.

“It’s a real selfless team. Everybody’s here to help you. Coaches are (as well), they want the best. They value good basketball.

“It’s good having those guys (NBL veterans) because they know what works and what doesn’t. They know little tricks and just ways to be efficient.”

Fans will be hoping Walker can continue building on this momentum during our pair of NBL Blitz games in Canberra this week.

We will first face the Perth Wildcats on Wednesday from 5:30pm, before closing our stint in the capital with a matchup with the Brisbane Bullets on Saturday from 5:45pm.

Both games will be streamed live on Disney+ and Kayo.

With so much anticipation ahead of the start of next season, the time is now to lock in your seat to see every second of action inside John Cain Arena.
