Ingles, Waardenburg gelling seamlessly says Goulding

Having both arrived in Melbourne this week, it’s taken no time for the new-look duo of Joe Ingles and Sam Waardenburg to mesh on the court.

The pair took to the hardwood alongside Chris Goulding for their first competitive session on Thursday afternoon, quickly showcasing their chemistry working in the pick-and-roll and handoffs.

With Ingles’ ability to make plays with his passing, and Waardenburg’s combined threat as a roller and perimeter shooter, Goulding spoke glowingly about their fit together.

“Obviously, they’re both high IQ players, so it was a pretty seamless integration,” Goulding said.

“Joe’s ability to process what’s unfolding in front of him and make reads for himself and others is one of his main strengths, and then the ability for Sam to both roll and pop will be able to provide so many different looks and opportunities for us to play out of and exploit.

“Both guys were making it easier for each other which is what we want to see.”

Fans will get an early opportunity to see how the new-look lineup is coming together when we face off against the Cairns Taipans in a pre-season clash at Casey Stadium.
